Conversation Guide

Ground Rules

Start every conversation by reading these out loud to set the tone and expectation of safety.

  • We will stay kind and curious.
  • We won't advise each other or tie endless parallels to our own lives.
  • We will commit to prioritizing these conversations, coming prepared with self-reflection work done, and being honest.
  • We won't share what we hear elsewhere.
  • We will work hard to use "I" statements and personalize, rather than generalize, what we are learning.

Conversation Flow

  1. How does your body react to this process of identifying and questioning your beliefs? Do you get anxious? Excited? Agitated? Hopeful? Sad? Confused? Bored? Empowered?

  2. What does it feel like might be stopping you from identifying your corrupted beliefs internally?

  3. Have you found yourself "should-ing" on yourself as you get closer to your corrupted beliefs? Do you have trouble admitting them because of a truth you cognitively cling to, or know you "should" believe? If so, where is that pressure coming from?

  4. From the examples of corrupted beliefs in the Self-Reflection Work, what rang most true for you? What did you write down?

  5. Share any thoughts on what corrupted beliefs you think might be influencing your behaviors — what painful memories, intrusive thoughts, inner critic messages, judgments, or fears surfaced for you.

  6. Which 2–3 corrupted beliefs did you write down and keep in front of you for the day? Share about that experience and what you observed about their influence on your behaviors and emotions.
