Self-ReflectionLesson 38 of 48
Self-Reflection Work
Break this work up over several sittings if you'd like, or take a quick pass through all at once and come back to different questions for a deeper dive as they simmer in your mind.
Take some time to reflect on your experience with the imaginative prayer experiences.
John 8 — Caught in the Act
- Who were your accusers? What did they say?
- What did it feel like to stand before Jesus? There were probably multiple emotions, both positive and negative.
- What did Jesus say to you? What did it mean to you?
- What, if anything, did you hear or realize when you asked God where He was when you needed Him?
- How does God want to protect your heart now, if you're willing to let Him?
John 5 — Do You Want to Be Healed?
- What memory of being left behind or on the outside came to mind?
- What "pool" do you sit by? What have you dared to put your hope in, only to get let down?
- How have these past experiences made it hard to trust God?
- What did Jesus' face look like when He asked you that question a second time? What is your heart's honest response?
To act, think, or love like Jesus, we have to believe like Jesus. How does this challenge or affirm your perspective on how we change and grow spiritually?
Then walk through the three repair tools — Grieving, Forgiving, and Repenting — using the frameworks from this stop's Action Steps. Bring one loss, one person, and one anchor of guilt to each.
