Conversation Guide

Ground Rules

Start every conversation by reading these out loud to set the tone and expectation of safety.

  • We will stay kind and curious.
  • We won't advise each other or tie endless parallels to our own lives.
  • We will commit to prioritizing these conversations, coming prepared with self-reflection work done, and being honest.
  • We won't share what we hear elsewhere.
  • We will work hard to use "I" statements and personalize, rather than generalize, what we are learning.

Conversation Flow

  1. Since you started this journey, what's different about you, your life, or how you see the struggles in your life?

  2. To continue repairing our beliefs as we move forward, we must practice courageous vulnerability by asking someone to come through for us in a specific way that challenges a corrupted belief. Share the practice work you did, or talk about where you got hung up.

  3. What people in or around your life do you need to move closer to that seem safe and helpful? On the flipside, what people are you consistently sharing with or asking for help from that have proven to be unsafe and unhelpful?

  4. What go-to disarming plan do you want to implement so you can minimize damage when your alarms are set off? What practical steps or habits can help you regularly metabolize your negative emotions?

  5. Share a bit about how you normally share your negative emotions with others. What would have to change in order to share in the way we talked about?

  6. Share a bit about how you normally listen and help when someone shares negative emotions with you. What would have to change in order to listen and help in the way we talked about?

  7. What's the most impactful next step you could take to keep your momentum going?
