Self-Reflection Work
Break this work up over several sittings if you'd like, or take a quick pass through all at once and come back to different questions for a deeper dive as they simmer in your mind.
-
Take a moment to reflect on where you were when you started this journey. What's different about you, your life, or how you see the struggles in your life?
-
To continue repairing our beliefs as we move forward, we must practice courageous vulnerability by asking safe people to come through for us in specific ways that challenge our corrupted beliefs. Practice making a plan using this outline:
- Identify something you need, based on a corrupted belief or fear.
- Who would be a safe person to help you meet this need? What makes them safe?
- How could you make a "vulnerable ask" for something that would help meet this need or challenge that fear? Be specific and add a timeline.
-
We talked about what makes a person safe and helpful. What people in or around your life do you need to move closer to that seem safe and helpful? On the flipside, what people are you consistently sharing with or asking for help that have proven to be unsafe and unhelpful?
-
To keep moving forward, we must disarm our alarms and metabolize our emotions fully.
- What go-to disarming plan do you want to implement so you can minimize damage when your alarms are set off? What will help you stop fighting, fleeing, freezing, or fawning in the moment?
- What practical steps can you take or habits can you create to help you regularly metabolize your negative emotions?
-
Think about how you normally share your negative emotions with others (if you do). What would have to change in order to share in the way we talked about?
-
Now think about how you normally listen and help when someone shares negative emotions with you (if they do). What would have to change in order to listen and help in the way we talked about?
-
What's the most impactful next step you could take to keep your momentum going?
